We have an exciting opportunity for an attorney to join our fast paced, dynamic Law Department in our La Jolla/Torrey Pines facility. This position will function in a generalist capacity supporting the General Counsel and other attorneys on corporate dispute and compliance matters as well as guide the successful resolution of legal problems, examine various documents and data and provide counsel on best courses of action ensuring the Companys interests are protected.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partners effectively with General Counsel and other attorneys to prepare contractual documents in connection with distributors, sales representatives, licenses, purchases, sales, financial arrangements, leases, real estate, employment, insurance, mergers, acquisitions and related matters.
  • Participate in and advise on a full range of employment, workers compensation, compliance, immigration, intellectual property, political law issues, and other corporate matters.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations and company policies wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

  • Typically requires undergraduate and law school (LL.B. or J.D.) degrees and a license to practice law in the State of California or a jurisdiction in which the Company does business.
  • Three + years of legal experience desired
  • Must have an extensive understanding of state, federal and international legal principles, concepts, theory, laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Must possess leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones while maintaining superior attention to detail.
  • Must possess (1) the ability to resolve unusually complex legal issues; (2) excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to serve as spokesperson on assigned projects; (3) the ability to provide leadership and direction to support staff; (4) the ability to effectively interface with general counsel, other attorneys, and support staff, (5) the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information; (6) knowledge of computer applications and operations pertinent to the field; and (7) excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, able to work extended hours and travel as required and may be required to obtain a security clearance.
