Provide electrical and automation controls engineering support for development of web handling and process equipment. Position leads projects to design and implement lab prototype machines, pilot production lines, full size commercial machines and equipment.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS (Reports to and direct reports)
Reports to: Manager, Machine Design and Automation GroupPRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for development and implementation of electrical, controls, and UI sub-systems for automation within PFIC and in Parker manufacturing facilities. Duties include:1. Developing electrical, control, software and safety architectures to satisfy customer requirements
2. Developing specifications for electrical controls, automation hardware, user interface, software components and systems.
3. Develop operating procedures, acceptance test and validation test plans and protocols.
4. Design, develop, upgrade, and debug sequence control logic, PLC programs, HMIs, electrical control sub-systems.
5. Design, build, upgrade, and debug electrical systems including control panels and point to point wiring.
6. Define requirements for manufacturing process automation required for scale-up of pilot systems.
7. Troubleshoot hardware and software components and sub-systems.
8. Collect and analyze performance data from equipment and automated processes to evaluate system performance.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Relevant experience to include:
1. Specification and design of automated manufacturing controls and software.
2. Coordinating equipment vendors, writing equipment specifications and operating procedures required.
3. Experience in acceptance and validation testing required, including protocol development, conducting tests, and data interpretation.
4. Thorough knowledge and experience in programming PLCs, sequence logic design, HMIs, PID loop design /implementation required. Experience with programming Allen Bradley PLCs and control and data acquisition software preferred. Experience with Parker PAC and Siemens Step 7 a plus.
5. Specification, design, installation, and troubleshooting of a variety of AC motors, variable frequency drives, controls, instrumentation and sensors for automated systems required. Experience designing using NFPA 70E, NFPA79 and ISO 13849 guidance documents required.
6. Coursework and/or experience with databases and database programming
7. Excellent communication skills, proven ability to work within a team environment with the ability to lead a project, and ability to prioritize responsibilities required.
8. Advanced PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet usage required. CAD skills (AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor).
9. Ability to program in C, Python, or other standard language a plus.
10. Responsible for being safety focused and comfortable enforcing company safety guidelines and policies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum education and experience:
1. Bachelors Degree in Electrical with 3 years industrial experience or degree in a technical field with 7 years industrial experience required.
2. Preferred 5 years relevant industrial experience and combination of post-BS education.Preferred Software and Hardware Experience

1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior office / lab work environment.
2. Exposure to machine noise less than 85dB
3. May be required to wear special personal protective equipment (PPE)
4. Lifting of objects up to 45 pounds.
