Position Summary

The Arkansas Coding Academy is housed within the Division of Outreach and Community Engagement at the University of Central Arkansas. Outreach has been providing innovative programs and services to our diverse community of learners for over 100 years, and the Arkansas Coding Academy is one of our newest programs that support workforce development. The Arkansas Coding Academy (ArCA), launched in 2016, provides training to individuals seeking new careers in programming and/or information technology.

The Director of the Arkansas Coding Academy reports to the Associate Vice President of Outreach and Community Engagement and is responsible for all management aspects of the program, including personnel, budgeting, marketing, program development, evaluation, and industry partnerships. The Director will also share our commitment to expand and strengthen diversity within ArCA and the technology industry.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Create an inclusive environment for faculty, staff and students that promotes a culture of diversity, belonging, innovation and excellence.
Coordinate all curriculum and training offerings including topics and delivery methods alongside diverse administrative staff and instructors.
Establish and achieve programmatic goals centered on growth of new programs and sustaining current programs.
Supervise creation and implementation of the overall ArCA marketing plan.
Balance campus operations against financial goals through budgeting and adherence to UCA fiscal and purchasing policies.
Manage all full time employees and provide accountability and support for the teams success.
Recruit, manage and support the diverse instructors through scheduling, orientation, curriculum oversight, and evaluation while also exercising the opportunity to teach.
Work closely and continuously with local employers and agencies to determine talent needs and sources of funding in our community.
Develop on-campus partnerships to support program goals and expand ArCA capacity.
Ensure students have a truly impactful educational experience and guide them through personalized career support that prepares them for meaningful and successful software development careers.

Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelors Degree in computer science, education, business, communication or related area

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Masters Degree in computer science, education, business, communication or related area
Demonstrated success working in higher education or other state agencies
Minimum of three years successful experience in software programming, computer science education, or project management in a related field
