Essential Functions
Department administration which includes performance evaluations, hiring of new employees, employee
training and development, disciplinary action, budgeting, etc.
Review and approval of engineering output for accuracy and correctness. Outputs include engineering
change requests, product configuration changes, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Establish and maintain procedures and documentation compliant with ISO 9000.
Prioritize and direct daily department activities to ensure effective and efficient completion of department
objectives.
Perform technical work including preparation of design layouts, specifications, engineering investigations,
calculations, failure analyses.
Initiation and continuous improvement of good engineering design, practices and procedures. This includes
implementing redesign to improve manufacturing and to eliminate potential field problems.
Technical support for manufacturing, production designs, customers and marketing.
Maintaining a functioning laboratory for product test and evaluation.
Independently defines tasks and efficiently applies department resources to ensure their timely completion.Position Summary:This supervisory position is responsible for executing activities relating to product design, testing and evaluation and
department administration. These activities include interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and
providing support for existing product designs and production. The engineering supervisor shall ensure all
department activities are effectively coordinated with other functional departments (Marketing, Manufacturing, Sales,
Quality, Purchasing etc.) As the engineering supervisor, this position shall also provide leadership to the facility and
department engineers, designers and drafters. This position will report directly to the Division Engineering Manager.Scope/Supervision and Interaction:Liaison includes Product Managers to provide technical support in the area of product design and development;
Manufacturing Engineering to facilitate incorporation of current manufacturing practices into new designs and
improve manufacturability of existing products; Quality Control to assist in the resolution of manufacturing problems;
Purchasing Department to assist in qualification of new vendors and in resolving technical problems with vendors.
Qualifications
Education: B.S. EngineeringJob Experience: 15 years design experience. 5 years in a supervisory role.
