The **Executive Dean** has executive accountability for the University of Providence, School of Health Professions (SHP) nursing and health programs including vision and strategy, program quality, profit & loss, and external partnerships. The role reports to the Provost and the University President and sits on the Presidents Cabinet.
The Executive Dean has executive accountability for ensuring existing and new programs achieve the agreed upon objectives and outcomes, maintain / receive national accreditation (as required), and meet any state regulations required. The role also has executive accountability for the faculty adjunct and full time that report to the division chairs. The Executive Dean has accountability for the creation of new programs that meet healthcare market demand, particularly for key partners such as Providence St. Joseph, Catholic Health Association members and local Montana heath systems (example Benefis). The expectation is that this role will serve as an industry disruptor for health professions programs and will envision and execute on innovative ways to expand the reach of the School, particularly across the western United State. The Executive Dean is a full-time administrative position with full eligibility for UP faculty appointment.
**Key Working Relationships:**
Direct reports include the Division Chair, Nursing and Division Chair, Health Programs as well. The incumbent works closely with Enrollment Management, Registrars Office, IS Department, Finance, as well as other administrative staff within the School of Health Professions. The Executive Dean will work closely with the Providence St. Joseph Education Programs & Partnerships team and with the EVP, Chief Medical Officer (or delegate) for Providence St. Joseph Health to identify need for SHP programs- administrative and clinical. S/he interacts with PSJH staff at all levels of the organization, including key internal and external stakeholders and communities of interest.
Key Responsibilities:
The Executive Dean, School of Health will have the following functions:
+ Executive accountability for the entire School of Health Professions (SHP), which includes both nursing and health programs.
+ Accountable for SHP P&L, yearly budgets, and agreed upon growth plans.
+ Accountable for SHP vision and strategy, in alignment with the vision and strategy for the broader University.
+ Serve as an industry disruptor for health professions programs; envision and execute on innovative ways to expand the reach of the School.
+ Executive accountability for the quality of all SHP programs, working with the SHP Division Chairs to ensure programs achieve the agreed upon objectives and outcomes, and to ensure that programs maintain/receive national accreditation (as required) and meet any state regulations required to deliver the programs.
+ Executive accountability for the SHP faculty adjunct and full time that report to the division chairs.
+ Accountability for the creation of new programs that meet healthcare market demand, particularly key partners such as Providence St. Joseph Health, Catholic Health Association members and local Montana health systems (example Benefis in Great Falls).
+ Accountability for existing and new partnerships (with Providence St. Joseph Health and other healthcare companies) with a focus on expanding existing health programs through new clinical sites.
+ Accountable for programmatic collaboration within the University and PSJH (and other partners), to create new SHP programs.
+ Partner with Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs to ensure SHP governance aligns with overall university governance and to ensure SHP programs are aligned with Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) accreditation requirements.
+ Oversee the SHP division chairs.
+ Recruit, hire, and mentor SHP leadership roles including division chairs.
+ Create an inclusive, customer focused team environment both within SHP and across the broader university.
+ Maintain current knowledge for assigned SHP programs by attending state and national conferences and participates in other professional development activities to ensure the SHP programs are robust and relevant for students.
+ Champion SHPs vision, strategy, and goals internally with the university and externally in the communities that we serve students.
+ Ensure the Schools activities are in accordance with the governance, policy and regulatory frameworks of the University.
+ Perform all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the University and PSJH mission and philosophy.
Required qualifications and experience for this position include:
+ Masters in an Administrative or Clinical field from a fully accredited university.
+ 8-10 years of education administrative experience (higher education preferred; healthcare clinical or administrative education acceptable).
+ Progressive escalating leadership experiences in an education setting.
+ Proven leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of health education programs and projects.

Preferred qualifications and experience for this position include:
+ Doctorate degree.
+ Strong network within higher education, Background working with Boards of Nursing of allied health accreditation boards.
