**Facilities Engineer - Special Programs East Hartford CT**

Adaptive Optics Associates - Xinetics (AOA Xinetics), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Venture, is currently seeking a Facilities Engineer to lead Special Program facility/maintenance activities in East Hartford CT.

AOA Xinetics (AOX) is a leader in developing 'smart' electro-optical and opto-mechanical products. Across its three Business Areas Xinetics, Image Metrology and Special Programs, AOX designs, manufactures and services optical & photonic solutions world-wide. Our customers include Government, Industrial, U.S. Defense Primes and Second-tier Contractors; Markets for these technologies include astronomy, logistics, and defense missions such as directed energy and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (i.e. ISR); several potential direct and adjacent market segments also exist.

AOX excels in a range of applications from adaptive optical systems, deformable mirrors, wavefront sensors, and sub-nanometer precision actuators to photonic systems that acquire and process data in real time for a variety of high-availability applications. AOX's market offerings include lightweight passive and active CERAFORMTM and CERAPRINTTM silicon carbide (SiC) optics and precision structures as well as large and small precision opto-mechanical systems supporting electronics and sophisticated controls software.


Reporting to the Materials and Logistics Manager, the Facilities Engineer will supervise a team of facility/maintenance employees and outside contractors who construct, maintain, and repair utilities systems, buildings, and equipment via one or more of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air-conditioning and ventilation, painting, and/or general maintenance. Our ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise, exceptional collaborative people skills, and the proven ability to work within a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced NG Strategic Space Systems business unit.


+ Maintain a safe work environment
+ Daily operations of a team or work unit (direct supervision of the staff, assignment of work, schedules, day to day workflow, and operating costs)
+ Manage/oversee facilities maintenance and property administration (i.e. vended service contracts), office planning, corporate leasing or real estate coordination
+ Work closely with and provide advice and counsel to company leadership and vendor representatives coordinating major facility constructions or modifications or leasing and real estate activities
+ Oversee and provide direction to the team in the completion of construction projects and facility maintenance activities
+ Supervise planning, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of buildings, structures, and other facilities maintenance
+ Gather and reviews data from end-user/customers or Program facilities requirements, budgets, schedule requirements and specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility
+ Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
+ Oversee facility maintenance activities required to support multiple buildings
+ Review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs
+ Inspect and/or direct the inspection of construction and maintenance installations progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, costs and schedule requirements
+ Provide briefings related to facility enhancements and/or recommendations, propose project solutions and strategies to senior management that meet facility business challenges
+ Allocate resources needed to complete all preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, and continuous improvements
+ Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree
+ 6+ years of proven experience leading facilities and maintenance deliverables
+ Demonstrated ability to lead others, build teams, and create an environment of continuous improvement using lean methodologies
+ Strong project management skills and must have the ability to manage a number of competing priorities concurrently
+ Demonstrated organizational skills for documentation and reporting facility maintenance activities
+ Demonstrated skill and initiative in resolving process conflicts and logistical issues
+ Excellent verbal/written communications and presentation skills
+ Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture
+ Ability to handle ambiguity
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook)
+ Valid Driver's License
+ U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for employment
+ Ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Construction Project Management Certification
+ Lean Six Sigma Certification
+ Experience working in a DoD/Government contracting work environments
+ Experience working with new-build and stand-up of new facilities
+ Active Top Secret Clearance

**Physical Requirements:**

+ Ability lift 50lbs or more.
+ Occasional travel up to 10% of the time - between facilities Devens MA and East Hartford CT, vendor, customer visits, etc.
