**Providence is calling a Financial Analyst (Full Time/Day Shift) to John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, CA.**
**We are seeking a Financial Analyst** who will be under the general supervision of the Senior Manager of Contracts and Grants, the Financial Analyst is responsible for pre and post-award grant and contract financial and business analyses at the John Wayne Cancer Institute at Providence Saint John's Health Center including: developing grant and contract budgets, budget negotiation, monitoring and facilitating allowable expenditures, and grant and contract financial reporting. This position requires the ability to interpret and administer a variety of financial and non financial information to determine grant compliance requirements, allowable expenditures, payment provisions, and financial and other reporting requirements.
**In this position you will have the following responsibilities:**
+ Support financial planning needs
+ Prepare project budgets to be submitted to grant or contract sponsor. The Financial Analyst will be required to learn requirements of each sponsor and to negotiate with sponsors
+ Perform post-award financial work including the review and processing of expenses, invoices, requests for rebudgeting, carry-forward, no cost extensions, cost transfers, change of Principal Investigator and close out activities
+ Prepare annual operating budgets, ad hoc financial reports, and any required special analysis
+ Establish new projects in Financial system and monitor expenses on existing projects. Ensure compliance with sponsor and government regulations, policies, agency guidelines, and generally accepted accounting principles
+ Prepare and submit financial reports and coordinate preparation and submission of narrative and other sponsor required reports
+ Prepare monthly activity reports, and attend monthly Finance meetings with Principal Investigators to review financials.
+ Liaise with Finance, HR, Payroll, and other departments on behalf of Principal Investigators and their labs
+ Create and maintain actual, budget, and variance reports
+ Review and monitor grant and contract expenditures against award budgets
+ Review payroll transactions and expense transfers for allowability and funds availability
+ Manage grant and contract account receivables
+ Assist Principal Investigators in seeking and applying for new grant and contract opportunities
+ Comply with hospital, department and unit standards including, but not limited to, safety, CPR, infection prevention, quality management, environmental, confidentiality, and patient care
+ Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regard to:
+ Attendance, punctuality and patient confidentiality
+ Positive public relation image and working relationships
+ Obtaining necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence and certifications
+ Completing all mandatory requirements, including annual safety programs and annual physical
+ Participate in the development and attainment of team, department and hospital goals including:
+ Attending and participating in division meetings
+ Volunteering or accepting assignments for projects
+ Mission, vision and team ground rules
+ Perform other job related duties as required
**Required qualifications for this position include:**
+ Bachelor's DegreeFinance/ Economics/ Accounting/ Business Administration or other relevant field
+ 3 years experience in related field such as university, research institute, hospital or medical center, non-profit, local or state government, etc
+ Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to build strong customer relationships
+ Demonstrated ability to compose clear, concise, logical and grammatically correct correspondence, reports, memos and other forms of written communication
+ Strong skills in editing and formatting of documents
**Preferred qualifications for this position include:**
+ 5 years experience in related field such as university, research institute, hospital or medical center, non-profit, local or state government, etc
