Job Summary

The Financial Analyst in the Foundation Gift Administration unit will collaborate with Foundation staff, Finance and philanthropic fund custodians across Houston Methodist (administrators, executives, and faculty) to directly support the fiscal management and monitoring of philanthropic gifts in accordance with donor intent and within institutional policies and procedures. Will perform regular revenue reconciliations against the institution's general ledger and revenue audits to ensure the accurate allocation of philanthropic donations across philanthropic accounts that support hospital and program annual operating budgets. Will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing data related to the Foundation's financial performance through the tracking and accounting of philanthropic donations in the Raiser's Edge database. This position will oversee the Foundation's portfolio of philanthropic commitments/pledges and deferred gifts, calculating net present values, producing and distributing pledge reminders to donors and ensuring adherence to IRS and CASE guidelines regarding the documenting, receipting and reporting of contributions. The Financial Analyst will compile and report information as requested by Financial Accounting, Internal Audit and management and update a monthly dashboard of key indicators and external benchmarks. Will work with Foundation staff and donors to resolve issues, expedite timely deposits and receipt of contributions, and facilitate securities and wire transfers of gifts. Daily activities will primarily involve tracking and receipting of philanthropic monies, gift/account monitoring, revenue audits, financial reporting and performing quality control functions.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE \ 10 %
1. Interacts with all levels of personnel within the department, other institutional departments, as well as outside companies to resolve problems/errors or questions regarding basic accounting reconciliation items.

SERVICE \ 30 %
1. Assists department administrator and faculty members in managing the clinical/research departmental budget.
2. For Research: Assists in preparation of grant and contract budget proposals as needed. Assists in the oversight of departments\u0027 financial files for all grant and donor funding.
3. For Research: verifies all faculty, staff and research personnel are charged to the correct grant sources.

QUALITY/SAFETY \ 10 %
1. Reviews revenue projections, budget revisions, etc., for physician practice and/or academic department.

FINANCE \ 40 %
1. Support the development of auditing, reporting and contract modedling tools as needed for identification and analysis of rate and/or fee schedule auditing, financial performance and contract performance as well as modeling and analysis of potential opportunities.
2. Prepare and maintain revenue models.
3. Support administrator with compilation of information needed for organization profit and loss statements required by financial accounting.
4. Maintain monthly dashboard of key indicators and external benchmarks as defined by management.
5. For Physician Organization: Review contracts/calculate provider productivity bonuses/compensation models.

GROWTH/INNOVATION \10 %
1. Maintains procedures and SOPs for reconciliation process.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

o Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certificates, Licenses and Registrations section.

o BBA, BS or BA with a major in Accounting, or related degree is required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

o Minimum three years of financial analysis experience in health care environment.
