Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here .

The selected engineer will work with the product team to develop software systems and tools, participate in technical reviews and provide customer support. This position includes:

+ Software development using languages such as C, C++, or Java
+ Ability to create new software from requirements
+ Generation of applicable documentation, software user manuals and presentations
+ Interfacing with customers, program management and technical staff
+ Problem resolution and improvement recommendations
+ Occasional travel to Northrop Grumman and Government locations within the United States

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.



**Basic Qualifications:**

+ 14 Years of Software Engineering experience with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field; OR 12 Years with Masters of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field; OR 9 years with PhD
+ Experience in software engineering with C/C++ in a Linux environment
+ Active DoD Secret clearance must be held and maintained. U.S. Citizenship is required.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience in software development on a real time operating system
+ Experience writing software to meet safety standards
+ Experience using and/or setting up a DevSecOps pipeline
+ Familiarity with common source control tools (git, Mercurial, etc.) and automated build system workflows (Jenkins, Go, etc.)
+ Exposure to the Agile methodology
+ Familiarity with virtual machine technology
+ Ability to understand secure / insecure programming concepts (format string vulnerabilities, heap overflows, etc.)
+ Active Top Secret security clearance
