**Providence St. Joseph Health** **is calling an** **Infection Preventionist 3** **to our location in Renton, WA.**
We are seeking an Infection Preventionist (IP) 3 to join our system team. This individual will be focused on supporting infection preventionists across the 51 Providence hospitals and 1000 ambulatory and long-term care settings. The system IP 3 will lead projects, facilitate creation of policies and procedures, and dive deeply into the literature to identify best practice on a host of IP-related issues. This role provides a unique opportunity for large scale impact on patient and caregiver safety. As with all PSJH caregivers, the IP3 performs all duties in a manner that reflects the mission, vision, and values of Providence St. Joseph Health.
The IP3 is expected to work autonomously and to serve as a mentor to other infection preventionists.
**In this position you will have the following responsibilities:**
+ Relationships: Create and maintain strong relationships with colleagues from key departments as well as key leaders within the ministry, region, system. Create and maintain strong relationships with colleagues from other healthcare systems through shared professional organizations.
+ High Reliability: Demonstrate understanding of high reliability principles through use of tools, tones, and behaviors that promote patient safety.
+ Regulatory: Review, analyze, and implement regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies, accreditations bodies, and professional organizations. Conduct activities to maintain continuous preparedness for survey. Provide feedback to regulatory, advisory, and accrediting agencies regarding opportunities for improvement in standards and guidelines.
+ Leading Practice: Contribute to knowledge of leading practice through research, publication, and presentation at conferences.
+ Surveillance: Develop surveillance plans based on the populations served, services provided, and previous surveillance data. Select indicators and design surveillance based on the projected use of the data. Periodically evaluate the effectiveness of the surveillance plan and modify as necessary.
+ Education: Develop and deliver targeted educational programs with consideration for system-level utilization and dissemination.
+ Consultation: Support patients, families, administration, committees, healthcare providers, and ancillary staff in infection prevention, control, and epidemiology issues as needed. Consult on development of policy, procedure, protocols, and standard work.
+ Scope of Influence: Collaborate with community health organizations, departments of health, PSJH care continuum, colleagues from other organizations, regulatory and accreditation agencies, and other local, regional and system infection preventionists and leaders.
+ Planning: Conduct the annual Infection Prevention Program Risk Assessment and prepare the annual Infection Prevention Program Plan. Select indicators and design surveillance based on the projected use of the data and utilize governance channels for program approval.
+ Leadership: Utilize collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills to promote implementation and uptake of leading practice related to infection prevention.
**Required** **qualifications for this position include:**
+ Bachelors in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field.
+ Masters Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field.
+ 7 years healthcare or public health experience
+ 5 years experience in Infection Control and Prevention or Epidemiology
+ Certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Prevention (CBIC), upon hire
+ RN candidates must be licensed in the state in which they are applying
**Preferred** **qualifications for this position include:**
+ Fellow of APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Prevention), upon hire
