Laitram's Information Technology Services Department has an opening for an IT Data Center Engineer, reporting to the IT Project Design & Delivery Manager. The primary responsibilities for this position include the ongoing design, implementation, and escalated support of our Global Data Centers.

  • Design, implement and provide 3rd level support for various global systems, including, but not limited to:
    • Bare metal servers (Cisco UCS B/C series, FIs)
    • Virtualized Linux Server OS (various distros, including Oracle Enterprise Linux)
    • Virtualized Windows Server OS
    • Enterprise-level backup (Cohesity/Veeam)
    • Enterprise-level SAN (NetApp AFF)
    • Business-continuity (VMware SRM)
    • Security/OS hardening (CIS Benchmarks)
  • Participate in projects intended to continually optimize our global data centers 
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness with a focus on business use-cases. 
  • Maintain effective communication with business-users and team members around design decisions, and implementation statuses and timelines. 
  • Author technical installation, configuration, and support documentation. 
  • Perform planned system changes and upgrades with minimal impact to business operations which may require after hours or weekend work. 
  • B. S. in Computer Science, MIS or related field or related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in data center engineering. 
  • Proficient in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise level SAN and Server farms. 
  • Experience scoping and sequencing IT related projects. 
  • Self-managed; ability to work well alone and in a global team environment 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned work according to business need and priorities
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
