Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Manager, Systems/Software Engineering 1 for a fast-paced, growing, and dynamic position to support our Ground Satellite Communications Systems (GCSC) Operating Unit (OU) located in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is only a 20% allocation of tasking as a Systems/Software Engineering Manager within the engineering department.

This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

**Responsibilities include:**

+ Managing and guiding Systems/Software Engineers
+ Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team
+ Workload management for direct reports
+ Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
+ Semi-annual performance assessments of your team members
+ Assisting team members with career development
+ Collaboration with other OU Section Leads and Engineering Managers, supporting overall execution of IMS based programs
+ Program reviews, PMRs

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or related field; 3 years of experience with a Masters' degree; 0 years of experience with a PhD
+ 2 years of experience in any combination of Systems/Software Engineering, Integration and Test engineering disciplines.
+ Active DoD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5 years.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Engineering background in Systems/Software Engineering including deriving hardware and software requirements and designing, developing and testing systems
+ Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Demonstrated aptitude for analytical problem decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, solution implementation, metric development, and metric evaluation
+ Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills
+ Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) Program Engineering experience.
+ An ability to showcase the companys capabilities to existing and potential customers to support business development activities
+ Experience working in an Agile framework
+ Experience with U.S. Government contracts

Salary Range: $112,000.00 - $168,000.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
