**Description:**
**Providence is calling an Operating Engineer (Full time 1.0 FTE, Night Shift) to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.**
**In this position you will:**
+ Monitor, operate, maintain and improve physical plant systems and equipment to insure reliable, efficient, safe, clean and comfortable facility operation in support of patient care.
+ Systems include heating, ventilating and air conditioning, steam and hot water generation, power generation, pumping, controls, transportation systems (elevators, pneumatic tube), medical and compressed gases, electrical and life safety, and fuel and water treatment.
+ Document energy efficiency, ongoing system operating parameters, incidents and specific maintenance and repair activities - all in accordance with policies and/or applicable standards.
+ Provide monthly improvement report to Department Director.
+ Continuous monitor physical plant operation for efficiency, appropriate operating parameters (temperature, pressure, status), cleanliness, and safety. (includes visual inspection of all systems during each shift and regular monitoring or central control system).
+ Perform adjustments to systems as necessary to ensure physical plant operates efficiently and delivers services necessary to support patient care. Knowledge and experience with operation of mechanical valves, electrical disconnects, pneumatic and digital controls, variable frequency drives.
+ Perform testing, corrective and preventive maintenance of systems as assigned or as required during monitoring and operation activities.
+ Recommend and implement physical plant improvement projects as assigned by Supervisor or Lead.
+ Document ongoing plant systems efficiency; system operating parameters; completion or repairs, maintenance and projects; purchase requisitions; safety items and unusual occurrences or incidents.
+ Analyze and evaluate plant systems failures or deviation from routine operation.
+ Maintain and keep current operating and maintenance information for installed systems and equipment (single-line drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, troubleshooting / service guides, control sequence of operations, etc.).
+ Test and monitor water chemistry for steam, heating and chilled water loops
+ Maintain assigned mechanical rooms and service equipment in clean, well-maintained, safe and reliable condition.
+ Utilize equipment, supplies and repair parts as recommended by manufacturer.
+ Perform job duties in accordance with applicable safety and health regulatory standards. Experience and training with equipment and parts utilized in Plant Operations.
+ Assist and coordinate authorized work of others (i.e.: contractors, in-house personnel, consultants, etc.) in evaluation, design, maintenance or repair of physical plant systems.
+ Communicate assessment of physical plant operation through participation in Branch meetings, contribution to monthly Plant Operations Report and ongoing discussion with Lead and Director.
+ Ensure respectful customer service.
**Qualifications:**
**Required qualifications for this position include:**
+ High school graduate or equivalent
+ Additional vocational training
+ Ability to obtain Class 3, 2 or 1 Boiler Operation within 12 months of hire.
+ Hands-on experience of operation and maintenance of commercial heating and air conditioning systems
+ Working-level knowledge and understanding of operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in a commercial setting
