**Description:**
**Providence is calling a Respiratory Care Practitioner** **(** **Respiratory Therapy** **, Variable Shift, 0.6 FTE) to Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all especially those who are poor and vulnerable.**
**In this position you will:**
+ Support the Performance Improvement process
+ Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors
+ Patient Care Positions: Consider individual needs in communication with, assessment of, and treatment of patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects to include infant through the elderly
+ Support patient rights and the organizations code of ethical behavior
+ Regular and predictable attendance is required for all positions. Failure to meet this standard can result in progressive discipline up to and including termination
+ Incorporate age-specific considerations for care with every patient Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities as performed on patients of varying ages, from birth through the elderly
+ Maintain knowledge and understanding of medication doses and delivery systems (i.e., IPPB, SVNs, MDIs) as they relate to patients of all ages, from infancy through elderly
+ Ability to assess patient, need and ability to tolerate treatment/therapy and reassessment for response to care
+ Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Inspects and tests respiratory care equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely and efficiently
+ Sets up, operate and monitor non-invasive and invasive ventilators and the associated critical care duties required for such treatment, such as airway management and tracheal suctioning
+ Administer respiratory care treatments, understand the purpose of each and the possible side effects associated with each
+ Ensure the adequate maintenance of ventilation during CPR and/or does chest compressions
+ Assist with deliveries and C-Sections as needed, assessing the newborn and administering associated care duties following neonatal resuscitation guidelines
+ Assist with bronchoscopies
+ Perform pulmonary function studies, bronchoprovocation tests, and pulmonary stress tests
+ Perform chest physio-therapy (CPT)
+ Perform EKGs according to department standards. Review tracing and check for clarity and accuracy
+ Make regular rounds: checking patients oxygen equipment as well as spot checking other respiratory care equipment on a timely basis
+ Review patients chart to obtain pertinent clinical data needed prior to treatment/tests and to check for order accuracy
+ Consult with others to obtain a complete clinical history
+ Record and maintain all pertinent information of treatments and patient response to treatments on respiratory care flow sheets, interdisciplinary form and EDM in the ED
+ Give report of patients/treatments and therapies to the next shift
+ Enter daily charges into Meditech
+ Keep department and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
+ Follow departmental equipment cleaning and sterilization procedures
+ Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Inspect and test respiratory care equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely and efficiently
+ Perform preventative maintenance monthly and documents
+ Perform monthly crash cart check
+ Lift, position, move and transport patients via wheelchair and/or stretcher as needed
+ Coordinate break and lunch times with other staff
+ Perform all additional duties as assigned by the department manager and/or supervisor
+ Schedule services to coordinate with other patient examinations
+ General office work (i.e., keyboarding, scheduling outpatient appointments, filing reports, answering the phone and greeting patients.)
+ Identify learning needs of a patient and evaluates effectiveness of learning Include patients family in teaching as appropriate
+ Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure patients needs are met and that hospital policy is followed
**Qualifications:**
**Required qualifications for this position include:**
+ Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, AMA accredited
+ Must be licensed and currently registered as a professional respiratory care practitioner in the State of Washington. New graduates of AMA accredited school must be in the process of entry level exam and must obtain permanent license within two months of hire
+ Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR card or obtain within three months of employment
+ Must have current ACLS certification or actively be in the process of enrollment and certification
+ Must be Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certified or obtain within the first year of employment
+ Must be PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified or obtain within the first of year of employment
