Senior Distribution Studies Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities

+ The qualified candidate will be responsible for the performance of electrical studies and planning of utility electrical distribution systems, including:

+ Distribution System Planning Studies including construction work plans and long range plans

+ Real and Reactive Power Flow Studies

+ Voltage Drop Studies

+ Coordination and Sectionalizing Studies

+ Arc Flash Studies

+ Distributed Energy Resource Interconnect Studies

+ Distribution Feeder Automation

+ Non-Wire Alternatives

+ Program Justification Studies, including financial modeling and/or regulatory review

+ The ability to interact with a wide variety of people to obtain the required information needed for performance of electrical distribution system studies

+ Leads and performs engineering tasks associated with a critical or analytical engineering project or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas

+ Exercises authority and technical leadership on assignments that are often self-initiated and self-directed. Assignments are strategic and have significant long-term implications to achievement of overall business objectives

+ Track project schedules and budgets

+ Participation in industry working groups or standards (IEEE, CIGRE, IEC, ANSI)

+ Participation as a presenter in industry conferences

+ Some travel should be expected

Required Education/Experience

+ A BSEE degree

+ Ten (10) + years of experience in the electrical power delivery industry

+ Demonstrated experiencing in Electrical Power System Analysis using one of the following software packages CYME, Milsoft, or Synergi

+ Must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communication skills

+ Ability to work in design teams, is self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn new topics

+ Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process

+ A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Desired Education/Experience

+ Registration as a Professional Engineer

+ A Masters degree in Engineering

+ Significant knowledge of the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV)

+ Demonstrated advance modeling techniques internal to CYME, Synergi, or Milsoft or external programing/scripting

+ Demonstrated industry participation in industry working groups, standards, conference presentations, or publications

+ Twelve (12) + years of experience in the electrical power delivery industry

+ Experience with developing utility planning/program standards

+ Experience with the integration of distributed generation within the planning process
