Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking applicants for a position on the Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program as a Principal Systems Engineer to serve as the Program Safety Lead. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

**What You'll Get to Do:**

+ Apply knowledge, methodologies and principles of safety engineering as defined in MIL-STD-882E.
+ Independently analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards
+ Develop requirements and designs, assess implementations for hazard and causal factors to satisfy critical system safety objectives
+ Develop and evaluate systems, associated support equipment and facilities, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable safety specifications and standards
+ Collaborate with various design teams in the execution of various MIL-STD-882E hazard analyses
+ Apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, test, or evaluate military weapons systems
+ Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation for system safety IAW MIL-STD-882E.
+ Review architecture, requirements and interface artifacts for safety on complex hardware/ software systems
+ Review Test Plans and Procedures for safety requirements verification and potential hazardous operations
+ Conduct analysis within a Model Based Engineering (MBE) environment
+ Perform hardware/ software safety (Experience in AGILE development)

The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, team oriented environment. They will be a self-starter and efficient in achieving goals and proactive in pursuing subsequent tasks. Some travel may be required.


**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Education/Experience: 5 years applicable experience with Bachelors in Science in a relevant STEM discipline from an accredited college; 3 years with Masters; 0 years with PhD.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance
+ Technical documentation and analysis experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Active DoD Secret clearance
+ Experience in system/software safety (MIL-STD-882E)
+ Strong working knowledge of test engineering, systems integration engineering, and software test engineering
+ Ability to collaborate in and work in a team environment
+ Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result
+ Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously
+ Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
+ Familiarity and/or experience in Agile development processes, preferably Kanban, Scrum, and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
