**Providence is calling a Sonographer - Registered Vascular Technologist (Ultrasound, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Imaging Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.**
**In this position you will:**
+ Perform a variety of diagnostic sonographic and non-invasive vascular procedures in accordance with department, hospital, and national standards. Review the patient record prior to examination, and obtains a history from the patient.
+ Responsible for accurately completing daily records, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement information, necessary to meet accreditation standards
+ Responsible for calibrating, maintaining and basic troubleshooting of sonographic equipment. Optimize equipment and supplies to maximize department operations, and minimize patient time
+ Stock work area daily. Will be involved in stocking general supplies and ordering as requested
+ Comply with department and hospital safety standards. Practice Body Substance Isolation. Complete education as necessary to maintain licensure or certification required for job. Assist in the orientation and training of new employees
+ Communicate with physicians, nurses and other members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, and samples for testing or related information. Operate multiple communication and telecommunication systems. Coordinate scheduling of tests. Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served
+ Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department
**Required qualifications for this position includes:**
+ Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Sonography program (minimum one year in length)
+ High School Diploma or GED in General coursework
+ Registry credentials with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Abdomen, Breast, and Vascular registries within 24 months
+ Membership in a professional organization such as the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Society of Vascular Technologists, or the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine encouraged
+ Certified in Basic Life Support
+ Nine (9) months ultrasound coursework experience in Abdomen, OB/Gyn including clinical rotation
**Preferred qualifications for this position include:**
+ Nine (9) month ultrasound coursework experience in Breast and vascular technology including clinical rotation

Providence Imaging Center (PIC) is an independent diagnostic testing facility for outpatient medical imaging, located on the east side of the Providence Alaska Medical Center campus. PIC completed an expansion, which added 8,000 square feet, and several pieces of new equipment and 23 dedicated PIC parking spots conveniently located adjacent to the facility. Board certified Radiologists and a team of highly qualified trained technologist and professional clerical staff are dedicated to providing clients with high quality imaging exams in a caring comfortable and convenient environment.
