Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced **Sr. Principal Metallurgist/Materials Engineer.**
Responsibilities may include the following:

+ Performs root cause analysis of material failures, provides effective solutions to production metallic issues.
+ Generates material usage reports, test plans & reports and hazardous materials management program reports using NAS411.
+ Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
+ Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
+ Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.
+ Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
+ May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

**Qualifications:**

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 9 years experience in design and fabrication of metallic structures or a Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 7 years of experience in design fabrication of metallic structures.
+ Experience with corrosion control methodology
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ BS or MS, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or similar
+ Experience in fabrication of metallic airframe structures
+ Experience with military specs and standards.
+ Experience interfacing with a military customer.
+ Experience with material testing and qualification efforts, detailed drawing reviews, and supporting aircraft build.
