Join us as a Vehicle Capital Projects Engineer and youll be looking at a career-defining role based in Escondido & Oceanside, CA.  


As a Vehicle Capital Projects Engineer, you will be responsible for Projects and Contract management supporting Operations, Maintenance/Overhaul Projects to identify Business Improvement opportunities.  You will develop detailed plans, specifications and cost estimates for repair and or replacement activities outside of the base scope of work. Also, identify and document the scope of the work, develop effort, business plan, cost, schedule (WBS), and resource estimates, identifying the risks and opportunities.



  • Track and provide visibility of aging, risks, issues, and escalations.

  • Coordinate the disposition RFPs with the multi-disciplinary team including the suppliers.

  • Prepare visibility of RFP status to formalize business plan (according to Blue book) and proposal to customer.

  • Prepare formal project documentation and obtain appropriate authorizations. Chairing management meetings and expediting closure of actions.

  • Accountable for the overall delivery of business Intelligence and reporting projects, with the specified level of quality for the project sponsor; being on time and within budget and scope.

  • Identify critical path and determine milestones, control points, imposed dates, and Go/No-go decision points into the schedule.

  • Provide a high level of relationship management, resolving conflicts and enabling discussions amongst stakeholders, management, co-workers, and team members with varied interests.

  • Prepare and deliver executive presentations, facilitate workshops, project launch (Including the Orange book) and address complex questions from varied audiences.

  • Manage relationships with other Bombardier functions including Finance, Procurement, Logistics, Operations and PI teams.

  • Ensure a harmonization of strategy with all internal team members to maximize profitability by both securing additional revenue through product improvement and reducing costs through inefficiency identification.

  • Work closely with the Site Management Team to create and implement a Business Improvement Plan to enable the creation of standardized processes that ensure smooth, uninterrupted maintenance, improved product quality, and further reduce the burden on employees.

  • Continuously aim for improvements in efficiency of the maintenance and overhaul process through the installation and management of appropriate tools and processes to assess, improve and accurately monitor performance. Additionally, to provide the maintenance and overhaul teams with support regarding the elimination of process waste utilizing dynamic problem-solving techniques.

  • Act as liaison between site and service procurement, product introduction, customer, consultants, subcontractors, Maximo team and A/P teams. Follow up on issues and concerns from daily project operational meetings, support all dept managers to resolve their top concerns.
